Since the title of this topic concerns the law of God and His character, I'd like to make a couple of observations. Jesus Christ came to make the law honorable. One way He did this was through the Sermon on the Mount. Instead of the law being seen as a bunch of onerous rules, He explained the beautiful principles behind the law, and in so doing, enlightened us in regards to God's character.
For example, when He said to turn the other cheek, to love our enemies and do good to those who despitefully treat us, He was describing the character of God, a character which He illustrated by His own life.
In fact, we can look at every action of His life as making the law honorable, as the law can be summarized as love for God and love for man, or, in one word, love, and in Christ we see what love is all about. If we asked the question, "What would it look like if someone kept the law perfectly?" the answer is Jesus Christ. When we see Jesus Christ, we see something beautiful, which leads us to view the law as a beautiful, rather than an onerous, thing.
Those who wait for the Bridegroom's coming are to say to the people, "Behold your God." The last rays of merciful light, the last message of mercy to be given to the world, is a revelation of His character of love.

that raises a question for me.
since Christ lived the law perfectly, and obviously the jewish people knew the summation of the law since the lawyer stated it to Jesus, then why was it claimed He broke the law?
Jesus even lived the ceremonial law perfectly short of stoning the lady betrayed, then caught, in adultery.
Psa 64:5 ...an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privily; they say, Who shall see them?
Psa 7:14 Behold, he travaileth with iniquity, and hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood. 15 He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made. 16 His mischief (and his violent dealing) shall return upon his own head.
Psa 7:17 I will praise the LORD according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the LORD most high.

Some claimed Jesus broke the law because He didn't keep the traditions they had. In the Jewish system, there was the OT, which had the mishnot, and then the mishnah, and the talmud. Hope I have this all right. Basically, there was the laws of the OT, and then Oral traditions, and commentaries, and interpretations of those, and commentaries on those, etc. So what one was actually to do could be in doubt, depending upon which Rabbi one followed, etc.
Jesus accepted the OT as the Word of God and used that as His guide. When He "broke" the traditions, these were interpreted by some as His breaking the law.
Those who wait for the Bridegroom's coming are to say to the people, "Behold your God." The last rays of merciful light, the last message of mercy to be given to the world, is a revelation of His character of love.

so our beliefs can be more important than keeping Gods law, loving God and our fellowman.
i like the way someone stated it on another forum.
Psa 64:5 ...an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privily; they say, Who shall see them?

MM, I have a general question. Is it your view that God desires that anyone who broke any law be killed? I'm not speaking about the actual situation with Israel, but just a hypothetical question. God sets up a kingdom, with some number of subjects who will do just what he wants. Do you believe that God would have the righteous ones kill all the unrighteous ones? The only example we have of what you're talking about is the COI. I cannot comment on your hypothetical world. I don't have enough information. For example, would God command the righteous ones to execute the unrighteous ones? If so, would He also expect them to do it?
