Hmmm...The things that God has not revealed, I will taken on faith. But the matters He has revealed, and are easily available, simple to study and even in our own language...well, that I am very much responsible for. Any desires not to know on my part originate in my pride and defense of my reputation.
As for God in Christ taking a risk:
"Hear that despairing cry, "My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?" Mark 15:34. Look upon the wounded head, the pierced side, the marred feet. Remember that Christ risked all. For our redemption, heaven itself was imperiled. At the foot of the cross, remembering that for one sinner Christ would have laid down His life, you may estimate the value of a soul."{COL 196.4}
"Daily there is a battle to be fought which will cost mortification. It may cost reputation; but Jesus risked all this and a hundred-fold more that He might bring salvation within the reach of every soul. All the humiliation that man could bring upon Him He endured, that through His amazing condescension man might become the sure stepping-stone to His fellow-man, so sinful, so weak in moral power. Why, then, should fallen man be unwilling for Christ's dear sake to become a partaker of shame and reproach? {ST, August 4, 1898 par. 7}
