APL,

This thread is about "What saves us." Please keep to that topic. Use other threads (almost every one that you've participated in or started seems to have come to such a point) to talk about "what destroys us."

I invite you to continue this discussion of "what destroys us" in a more appropriate location. From this point forward, let us speak here of what "saves" us.

Thank you.

Blessings,

Green Cochoa.

We can receive of heaven's light only as we are willing to be emptied of self. We can discern the character of God, and accept Christ by faith, only as we consent to the bringing into captivity of every thought to the obedience of Christ. And to all who do this, the Holy Spirit is given without measure. In Christ "dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in Him." [Colossians 2:9, 10.] {GW 57.1} -- Ellen White.

Who endowed you with the gift of dealing with salvation without touching on what it is good for? Salvation from what?

"Here is a last piece of advice. If you believe in goodness and if you value the approval of God, fix your minds on the things which are holy and right and pure and beautiful and good. Model your conduct on what you have learned from me, on what I have told you and shown you, and you will find the God of peace will be with you."

Well Green - I think this discussion is on topic. You say God will kill sinners. I say Sin kill sinners. We need to know that truth on the matter, or the question cannot be answered, "What save us"? Salvation from what? This has been in the discussion since the beginning if the thread. Why start to complain now?

Up to you. I guess maybe Norman is no longer participating here, but you originally addressed him with the question of what saves us at the start of this thread.

If you want to switch topics to what destroys us, and discuss it here with others besides Norman, I see no further reason to attempt to moderate this discussion in relation to the topic.

Blessings,

Green Cochoa.

Revelation 22: 8 "And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. "

I think that is clear enough.

You are right about two things:

1) God does not cooperate with Satan to achieve a destructive purpose; and
2) God is sorry.

First of all, God is not desirous of anyone's destruction. That should be clear to anyone who understands how very much God loves us.

You are incorrect about one thing: You say that God does not destroy anyone Himself, but allows Satan to do it. God tells us otherwise. God is clear on this.

Said the angel, "It is the wrath of God and the Lamb that causes the destruction or death of the wicked. At the voice of God the saints will be mighty and terrible as an army with banners, but they will not then execute the judgment written. The execution of the judgment will be at the close of the one thousand years." {EW 52.1}

Then I saw that the seven last plagues were soon to be poured out upon those who have no shelter; yet the world regarded them no more than they would so many drops of water that were about to fall. I was then made capable of enduring the awful sight of the seven last plagues, the wrath of God. I saw that His anger was dreadful and terrible, and if He should stretch forth His hand, or lift it in anger, the inhabitants of the world would be as though they had never been, or would suffer from incurable sores and withering plagues that would come upon them, and they would find no deliverance, but be destroyed by them. Terror seized me, and I fell upon my face before the angel and begged of him to cause the sight to be removed, to hide it from me, for it was too dreadful. Then I realized, as never before, the importance of searching the Word of God carefully, to know how to escape the plagues which that Word declares shall come on all the ungodly who shall worship the beast and his image and receive his mark in their foreheads or in their hands. It was a great wonder for me that any could transgress the law of God and tread down His holy Sabbath, when such awful threatenings and denunciations were against them. {EW 64.2}

It really does not get any clearer than that. For those who think Satan alone is in charge of this "wrath of God," let me ask this crucial question: How can Satan give life to the wicked? Why would God give life to the wicked again at the end of the millennium so that they could suffer "the wrath of God?" (See the following quote.)

But he does the best thing for him that a compassionate God can do. He lets him be as though he had not been; while the master has to suffer the seven last plagues, and then come up in the second resurrection, and suffer the second, most awful death. Then the wrath of God will be appeased.

God says, many times, "I will destroy...." Why does God say this? Would God lie to us? Why would He say "I" if it were Satan doing the deed? Would this be honest?

Blessings,

Green Cochoa.

They had both given them by a miracle of God's mercy. To punish them for their ingratitude, and complaining against God, the Lord permitted fiery serpents to bite them. They were called fiery, because their bite produced painful inflammation and speedy death. The Israelites, up to this time, had been preserved from these serpents in the wilderness by a continual miracle; for the wilderness through which they traveled was infested with poisonous serpents. {1SP 315.1}

Moses told the people that God had hitherto preserved them, that they had not been harmed by the serpents, which was a token of his care for them. He told them it was because of their needless murmurings, complaining of the hardships in their journey, that God had permitted them to be bitten of serpents. This was to show them that God had preserved them from many and great evils, which if he had permitted to come upon them, they would have suffered that which they could call hardships. But God had prepared the way before them. There was no sickness among them. Their feet had not swollen in all their journeys, neither had their clothes waxed old. God had given them angels' food, and purest water out of the flinty rock. And with all these tokens of his love, if they complained, he would send his judgments upon them for their ingratitude, and make them to realize his past merciful care for them, of which they had been unmindful. {1SP 315.2}

God sent the serpents. HOW, but no longer preventing their attack. The MIRACLE was that the serpents did not bite all along. When the people rejected God, they rejected His care. God removed His care, and the serpents bit. WHO is to be blamed? GOD? NO. God is not the cause of sickness and death. SIN is the cause. WHAT DO WE NEED TO SAVED FROM? GOD? NO NO NO.

The people died of the serpents when God no longer miraculously preserved them. The wicked will die when God no longer miraculously preserves them. God the same, yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

LOOK TO THE CROSS. THAT IS THE ANSWER.

This is a point where we might come to an agreement. There might be times where a certain moderation is not needed.
