I remember an ordained SDA Pastor say that there are those who don't have the truth but have the experience and we have the truth but lack the experience. Can one really have the Truth without experiencing Him, and vice versa?

1 John 5:11-13 And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.

I was in a SS class in So Cal and the teacher described sanctification as follows: "You gradually sin less often and less intensely. For example, whereas you used to get upset and hit your children, now you merely scream at them. In time you will be able to stop yelling and leave the room until you cool down." What do you think? I agree. Ideally, we ought to turn away from every sin immediately, but history paints a different picture of our lives after baptism. We seem unable to be perfect. ... ...

Paul seemed to imply some people can experience the joy of Jesus without knowing Him. "When the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: which show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another". They might not know Jesus by name, but they certainly know His character and live in congruence with it.

We are now into Lesson 9, which seems to grow out of Lesson 8: http://www.ssnet.org/lessons/13c/less09.htmlThe title of Lesson 9 is "Reformation: The Outgrowth of Revival." Would you agree that reformation is the outgrowth, or the result of revival???
