Revelation 3:14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; 3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: 3:18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and [that] the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
On another thread it has been suggested that lukewarm Christians are in a saved state. Is it true?

The following verse would say that they are not in a saved state:
Rev. 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

This verse is often misunderstood. The greek uses the word "mello" which may be translated "about." In every case it is used in the New Testament, it refers to something which does not happen. For example, John was about to write down something he heard in Revelation, when he was told not to. So Christ is about to spew the lukewarm ones out of His mouth, but He doesn't. That's the idea. Now why would Christ be about to spit the lukewarm out? Because it is lukewarm; neither warm nor hot. It makes Christ feel nauseous. But Christ has not rejected His church, as nauseous as it makes Him feel. quote: Unless the church, which is now being leavened with her own backsliding, shall repent and be converted, she will eat of the fruit of her own doing, until she shall abhor herself. When she resists the evil and chooses the good, when she seeks God with all humility and reaches her high calling in Christ, standing on the platform of eternal truth and by faith laying hold upon the attainments prepared for her, she will be healed. (8T 250)
Ellen White's statements indicate that the church will repent, and that it will not be cast off.

When it comes to individuals, though, the Laodicean is in a lost state unless he/she undergoes a change. Rev. 3:19 indicates that the Laodicean believer is in need of repentance; and Jesus said, "Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish." Luke 13:5.

If you want to know what should be repented of, look at what the solution to the problem is. Also keep in mind that the Laodecean message is a corporate message.

Yes, the Laodicean message in the Revelation is addressing the SDA Church as a corporate body of believers. However, in order for God to call the church as a whole "lukewarm" the majority of the church members must necessarily be lukewarm.
True, God will not spit out the SDA Church and raise up another one to finish proclaiming the 3AMs. Instead, He will shake and purify the church until all the lukewarm members decide to leave the church.
The purpose of this thread, however, is to answer the question - Is a lukewarm Laodicean in a saved state? The question is referring to individual Laodicean church members, not the Church itself. So, please, let's stick to the topic.
No born again believer, who is abiding in Jesus, is lukewarm. It's impossible to abide in Jesus and be lukewarm. Anyone who is lukewarm is not in a saved state. Period. If they refuse to "repent" their case is hopeless.
What does it mean to be lukewarm?
Revelation 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
