False Prophet Fruits

If you bristle as the thistle,
If you scorn quite like the thorn--
Though you wear the cloak of sheep,
You are ravening down deep.

If you spout many words out,
If your fruit is in dispute--
Though you claim you're a prophet,
Your words will never profit.

If the tree's good the fruit's good;
If the tree's bad the fruit's bad;
A false prophet's a bad tree
Whose fruits will be plain to see.

I'm so blessed to simply rest
In Christ's warning of wolves rav'ning--
"Beware of false prophets," said He,
"Know them," "By their fruits," simply.

As there are no figs on thistles,
As there are no grapes on thorns,
I'm sure where "prophets" bristle
They're as false as one who scorns.

Pay no heed to their "Godspeed,"
Ignore their speech, I would beseech;
For they'll be cast into the flames
With all who followed, calling names.

Christ warned His disciples:

"Beware of false prophets,
which come to you in sheep's clothing,
but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Ye shall know them by their fruits.
Do men gather grapes of thorns,
or figs of thistles?

Even so every good tree
bringeth forth good fruit;
but a corrupt tree
bringeth forth evil fruit.

A good tree
cannot bring forth evil fruit,
neither can a corrupt tree
bring forth good fruit.

Every tree
that bringeth not forth good fruit
is hewn down,
and cast into the fire.

Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them."

We can receive of heaven's light only as we are willing to be emptied of self.
