A few more thoughts for any of you who may be able to consider helping Daryl and I with this important ministry:
Ex.17: 8-13: The Battle With Amalek - In the case of Aaron and Hur, each holding up one of Moses’ arms during the battle with Amalek, teamwork prevailed. They were interceding for Israel, but by doing this, no one acted in the capacity of priest or mediator for the other Israelites.
While Israel, under Joshua’s command, fought for it’s very existence down in the valley, Moses’ two companions supported him as he held up the “rod of God.” This support was not only physical - but also, likely spiritual. They continued with Moses in intercession until final victory was gained, towards the close of the day.
While Moses had sent his men into combat, and had done everything humanly possible to guarantee victory over their treacherous enemy, (see vs.9), he also demonstrated his trust in God rather than in human strength, as he held up the “rod of God,” and Aaron and Hur supported him.
Unity: centred in total trust in God by Moses and his two helpers was evident to the Israelites who were doing the fighting - and this demonstrated unity was the inspiration and power for the rest of Israel to win their victory over the enemy. It was the inspiration they also needed to trust in God for themselves; that He would win the victory over their enemies.
So too with [our MSDAOL Intercessory Prayer Ministry online]...as long as we exert ourselves in honest prayer, bringing an honest heart to the help of God, we ourselves, or someone else may be inspired by our trust, and turn to God for themselves, and obtain the victory in Jesus. Trust in God only is where victory begins. (see Jer.17:5). [this note adapted from 1 SDABC, pg.584-585].
