Florida will have the recount done tomorrow at 5PM EST, but they have ten days after the election to receive absentee ballots. That's why the date Nov. 17th comes up.

On top of that there is talk of a possible Democratic challange of the results. Now it would really be something if January 20, 2001 rolls around and they still haven't decided who's going to be sworn in as the next president

'course I could settle it real quick-- eeny, meeny, minee, moe.....

This election is driving us US residents nuts. Sure hope it doesn't come down to a judge (probably a Clinton apointee) to decide who becomes the next Pres.

Leno had a great line:

"If the vote total comes down to those overseas mail-in ballots, then the President of the United States will be decided by people who don't love the US enough to live in it!"

There's just one problem with Leno's joke-- many of those overseas ballots come from military personnel on deployment in other parts of the world.

There are also over a thousand US Florida Jews who live in Israel--most of them vote Democrat.

The United States only approves of overseas ballots from countries that provide postmarks--Israel does this.

I wonder what they'll do with astronauts who are up for several months in the new space station when the next election takes place?

Bush = 2,912,790 votes
Gore = 2,912,253 votes
Difference = 537 votes.

Bush declared the winner, and, therefore, the next President of the U.S.A. which is being contested by Gore.
