THE GREAT BATTLE! From the lesson (Tues Sept. 12) with the texts written Having conquered the ?rulers and authorities? at the cross (Colossians 2:15, Christ having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them . ), the exalted Christ now works out the results of that victory from His position as exalted Lord over the powers (Philippians 2:9-11 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, all in heaven, and all in earth, and all under the earth; And every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. ). Recruiting His followers as combatants in the cosmic war, Christ leads the armies of light toward a grand day of victory (1 Corinthians 15:54-58, 2 Thessalonians 2:8, Romans 16:20).
2 Thess 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Romans 16:20 And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
1 Cor 15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 15:55 O death, where [is] thy sting? O grave, where [is] thy victory? 15:56 The sting of death [is] sin; and the strength of sin [is] the law. 15:57 But thanks [be] to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. That gives us the assurance that Christ has won the deciding battle against Satan and his hosts. And we have the promise that death and the grave will be vanquished forever. But again we find ourselves still in the battle being urged once more to STAND, stedfast, unmoveable implying there are strong forces still doing their utmost to knock us down. "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places" (Ephesians 6:12). But thanks be to God Who gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. A battle unseen by human eyes is being waged. The army of the Lord is here, seeking to save souls. Satan and his host are also at work, trying in every possible way to deceive and destroy. The Lord bids us: "Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Day by day the battle goes on. If our eyes could be opened to see the good and evil agencies at work, we would be spending much more time in prayer, seeking His help, His shelter, His will for us. Our victory depends on the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. For the outpouring of the Spirit every child of God and of truth should pray. "We are not left to struggle alone against the mighty opposing forces of evil. Were our eyes opened, we should see heavenly angels about us, to protect us from the influence of the hosts of evil. Jesus watches over every one. He will not suffer us to be tempted above that which, with his help, we are able to bear. He desires us to have faith and confidence in him, that he may fill us with peace and happiness. {RH, August 1, 1907 par. 12}

The Armor God wants us to accept from Him, and put on, to stand in the great battle. (read Ephesians 6:13-20)
1.The belt of truth.
This belt holds everything else together. When we know the truth of the matter it gives us purpose, and a foundation to stand upon. Without this belt we drift and everything just kind of flaps around in the breeze. We need the truth as it is in Jesus, or we are swept away with lies.
2. The breast plate of righteousness
The breastplate protects the heart. This breastplate is Christ's imputed and imparted righteousness. It means we know our sins are forgiven, our guilt wiped away as we ask Christ to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. It was Christ's death upon the cross by which He can forgive us and declare us righteous! This moves our hearts in love and service for Him! With Christ's righteousness upon us, it empowers us to live righteously as we live with and for Him.
3, The shield of faith
Faith is the certainty that God is, and that He loves and guides us. Faith is fully trusting God. Believing He is real and His promises are sure. Being certain that He has accepted us, is with us always, empowering us to fight and win the battles against sin. And He has made all the provisions so we can have a wonderful future with Him! Faith in Christ's Word, fills a person with courage, hope and assurance.
4 Sword of the Spirit -- the Word of God.
It is written -- was Christ's response to the devil when tempted. The sword of the spirit The Holy Spirit inspired the prophets to write messages from God, to reveal to His God's truth. The Holy Spirit enlightens our minds to understood God's message and will for our lives.
5. Shoes Enables us to take the gospel of peace and salvation to others.
6. Helmet of Salvation The helmet protects the head. The biggest battle is the battle for the mind. That is the where we make our choices, our decisions, and determine our destiny. Are our thoughts centered on Christ and His salvation? Prov 23:7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. 2 Corinthians 10:5. Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5.
"The power of right thought is more precious than the golden wedge of Ophir. . . . We need to place a high value upon the right control of our thoughts, for such control prepares the mind and soul to labor harmoniously for the Master. It is necessary for our peace and happiness in this life that our thoughts center in Christ. As a man thinketh, so is he. Our improvement in moral purity depends on right thinking and right acting. . . . Evil thoughts destroy the soul. The converting power of God changes the heart, refining and purifying the thoughts. Unless a determined effort is made to keep the thoughts centered on Christ, grace cannot reveal itself in the life. The mind must engage in the spiritual warfare. Every thought must be brought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. {HP 164.1}
