Hi all. I was listening to Pastor Stephen Bohr today on 3ABN and he raised the following text...

John 14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

This raised questions in my mind...

(1) Is verse 15 a prerequisite for the promise in verse 16?
(2) If it is so, then does that mean that the millions of christians who know God's Commandments and yet disobey are operating without the Holy Spirit?
(3) If #2 is the case, then....?

Would anyone like to shed some light?

Obviously, Christ's prayer for the HS is not predicated on our keeping of the commandments. Your statement about millions of Christians is troubling because I think I know the dark road you are traveling on.

Is it not the Holy Spirit that urges us to keep the commandments?
