I finally discovered the problem.
SmartBoard 2000 was the problem. After not allowing it to load up, my desktop computer wotked just fine. Interesting, eh!

Just out of curiosity, were you using the free version that runs ads? I noticed that the free one caused some problems, so I went ahead and purchased it not long after I downloaded it. It's worked fine for me for almost 3 years. They have a new version out now, but it looks entirely different from the 2000, that I don't think I'll upgrade.

Yes, as I didn't see any need for a purchased version, I only used the free version, therefore, that could be the problem.
