Terry: From E.G. White God destroys no man. Everyone who is destroyed will have destroyed himself. Everyone who stifles the admonitions of conscience is sowing the seeds of unbelief, and these will produce a sure harvest. By rejecting the first warning from God, Pharaoh of old sowed the seeds of obstinacy, and he reaped obstinacy. God did not compel him to disbelieve. The seed of unbelief which he sowed produced a harvest of its kind. Thus his resistance continued, until he looked upon his devastated land, upon the cold, dead form of his first-born, and the first-born of all in his house and of all the families in his kingdom, until the waters of the sea closed over his horses and his chariots and his men of war. His history is a fearful illustration of the truth of the words that "whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." Gal. 6:7. Did men but realize this, they would be careful what seed they sow. {COL 84.4} As the seed sown produces a harvest, and this in turn is sown, the harvest is multiplied. In our relation to others, this law holds true. Every act, every word, is a seed that will bear fruit. Every deed of thoughtful kindness, of obedience, or of self-denial, will reproduce itself in others, and through them in still others. So every act of envy, malice, or dissension is a seed that will spring up in a "root of bitterness" (Heb. 12:15), whereby many shall be defiled. And how much larger number will the "many" poison. Thus the sowing of good and evil goes on for time and for eternity.
James 1:13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
The scripture is clear that God tempts no man and God does not lie thus our temptation comes from the adversary. It is my understanding that in the great controversy as in Job we are seeing the need God has to allow satan ample opportunity to prove his case. One day mankind will finally see that God's way is the only truly right way and then God will be able to complete this tragedy.
From E.G. White " Christ is waiting with longing desire for the manifestation of Himself in His church. When the character of Christ shall be perfectly reproduced in His people, then He will come to claim them as His own. {COL 69.1}
God is holy Psalms 99:9 Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the LORD our God [is] holy.
Can our holy God commit sin?
Do we accuse God of breaking the very principles He expects us to keep?
Jude 1:24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present [you] faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
Not all accept this promise those who do not will eventually be let go by God and then they reap their own reward at the hand of the adversary.
The wrath of God is the fact that He must let people go to their own fate. God has warned us from the beginning of time that if we sin we will die. Not By His Hand. Not By His Desire But By Our Choice.
Isaiah 55:6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. 55:8 For my thoughts [are] not your thoughts, neither [are] your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
This comes down to a true understanding about the nature and character of God. Once understood and accepted God can.... Ezekiel 11:17 Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel. 11:18 And they shall come thither, and they shall take away all the detestable things thereof and all the abominations thereof from thence. 11:19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh: 11:20 That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God. 11:21 But [as for them] whose heart walketh after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompense their way upon their own heads, saith the Lord GOD.
God will recompense their way upon their own head. God does not have to do anything for what a man sows he will reap.
God, when driven from men by their choice takes with Him life and control of nature and so on. These then can go completely out of control.
From Inspiration: The restraining Spirit of God is even now being withdrawn from the world. Hurricanes, storms, tempests, fire and flood, disasters by sea and land, follow each other in quick succession. Science seeks to explain all these. The signs thickening around us, telling of the near approach of the Son of God, are attributed to any other than the true cause. Men cannot discern the sentinel angels restraining the four winds that they shall not blow until the servants of God are sealed; but when God shall bid His angels loose the winds, there shall be such a scene of strife as no pen can picture.--Testimonies, vol. 6, p. 408. {ChS 52.1} The days in which we live are solemn and important. The Spirit of God is gradually but surely being withdrawn from the earth. Plagues and judgments are already falling upon the despisers of the grace of God. The calamities by land and sea, the unsettled state of society, the alarms of war, are portentous. They forecast approaching events of the greatest magnitude. The agencies of evil are combining their forces, and consolidating. They are strengthening for the last great crisis. Great changes are soon to take place in our world, and the final movements will be rapid ones.--Testimonies, vol. 9, p. 11. {ChS 52.2} The time is at hand when there will be sorrow in the world that no human balm can heal. The Spirit of God is being withdrawn. Disasters by sea and by land follow one another in quick succession. How frequently we hear of earthquakes and tornadoes, of destruction by fire and flood, with great loss of life and property! Apparently these calamities are capricious outbreaks of disorganized, unregulated forces of nature, wholly beyond the control of man; but in them all, God's purpose may be read. They are among the agencies by which He seeks to arouse men and women to a sense of their danger.--Prophets and Kings, p. 277. {ChS 52.3}
May God bless this discussion until all are in unity of spirit and understanding.
I believe we have a part to play in this great controversy and God wants it done asap.

Thomas, do you agree with everything Tom has written about this topic? If not, would you be willing to explain how your view differs from his?
If and when I take issue with what Tom writes, I will respond to him. Also, would you be willing to summarize my view? I'm curious what you think I believe. I'm pretty sure you have misunderstood me.
It seems to me that a short summary of your view is the appaling idea that Satan's actions is God's will. Do you agree with me that God's attitude about those who reject Jesus and despise His sacrifice, during the time the seven last plagues are being poured out, will be the same attitude as the holy angels?
This question is quite backwards. Trying to define God by His creation. I think God's attitude to anything is best identified by viewing how He has dealth with people in the past. Primarily through Jesus and secoundarily through His dealings with Moses and the prophets. For the people that crucified Him, Jesus forgave. For the city that rejected Him, Jesus wept. For the people that came to Him in faith, Jesus did not turn away but cared for each one after his or her needs.
Galatians 2 21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
It is so hazardous to take here a little and there a little. If you put the right little's together you can make the bible teach anything you wish. //Graham Maxwell

A wonderful answer, Thomas. Indeed, we see that Jesus wept over Jerusalem, and there is no reason to doubt that He would weep equally for any one of us who were lost. He loves us so much He gave His life for us.
Those who wait for the Bridegroom's coming are to say to the people, "Behold your God." The last rays of merciful light, the last message of mercy to be given to the world, is a revelation of His character of love.

The following quote is the basis upon which I base my beliefs regarding this topic:
GC 614 A single angel destroyed all the first-born of the Egyptians and filled the land with mourning. When David offended against God by numbering the people, one angel caused that terrible destruction by which his sin was punished. The same destructive power exercised by holy angels when God commands, will be exercised by evil angels when He permits. There are forces now ready, and only waiting the divine permission, to spread desolation everywhere. {GC 614.2}
Again, whether God commands holy angels or permits evil angels to destroy sinners God's will and desire is served.

That's too bad. A single quote taken without regard to its context is the basis for your belief. Surely one's belief should have a firmer basis than that.
For example, many feel their beliefs should be founded upon the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
Those who wait for the Bridegroom's coming are to say to the people, "Behold your God." The last rays of merciful light, the last message of mercy to be given to the world, is a revelation of His character of love.
