I agree Daryl, doing that is just plain wrong, taking advantage of your position...
Christ is waiting with longing desire for the manifestation of Himself in His church. When the character of Christ shall be perfectly reproduced in His people, then He will come to claim them as His own. {COL 69}

Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. Rom 13:1-2 Since earthly authorities are appointed by God, they are God's representatives (in a sense)

There is no excuse for any one in taking the position that there is no more truth to be revealed, and that all our expositions of Scripture are without an error. The fact that certain doctrines have been held as truth for many years by our people, is not a proof that our ideas are infallible. Age will not make error into truth, and truth can afford to be fair. No true doctrine will lose anything by close investigation. RH 12/20/1892

That, of course, is the ideal situation. In class, we discussed the fact that the time will come when human laws will conflict with God's laws. In fact, men will make laws to purposely make it difficult for those who want to obey God's laws (see Daniel). When that happens, we will have to choose which side of the fence we will be on, and be prepared to live, or die, with the consequences.

Besides Daniel, can anybody think of three Bible characters who obeyed the laws of God over the laws of man? Shadrach, Meshach, and 'To-bed-we-go', as a little boy said recalling a certain good-night story. And there were the Apostles, in particular Peter and John.
"Here is a last piece of advice. If you believe in goodness and if you value the approval of God, fix your minds on the things which are holy and right and pure and beautiful and good. Model your conduct on what you have learned from me, on what I have told you and shown you, and you will find the God of peace will be with you."
