The thought seems to stir up your pure mind
"Here is a last piece of advice. If you believe in goodness and if you value the approval of God, fix your minds on the things which are holy and right and pure and beautiful and good. Model your conduct on what you have learned from me, on what I have told you and shown you, and you will find the God of peace will be with you."

Would such boulders be heavy on the shoulders of the priests? How many did it take to carry the ark?
Would God grant Moses the muscles required to carry such boulders down the mountain alone? They would weigh considerable more than Ellen White's Bible. I'm going to do some calculating. How thick do you think the mercyseat was?

There is no excuse for any one in taking the position that there is no more truth to be revealed, and that all our expositions of Scripture are without an error. The fact that certain doctrines have been held as truth for many years by our people, is not a proof that our ideas are infallible. Age will not make error into truth, and truth can afford to be fair. No true doctrine will lose anything by close investigation. RH 12/20/1892

Here's a quickie. If the mercyseat was 1 inch thick (and ignoring the two angels on top) it would weigh almost 600 kg (~1300 lbs). That would require several Levites to carry around.
Assuming the 10C were written on sapphire, and each was as big as half a sheet of paper 2 inches thick, the 2 tables combined would weigh a bit over 12 kg (~26 lbs).
If the stones were that small, Moses should be able to carry them down the mountain, and the Levites can put them in the ark and they wouldn't even feel the difference. I can fit the NKJV rendering of Ex 20:2-17 in that space, using bold, 20-point font, with space between each commandment and 1" margin all around. The tablets can be even smaller if there were just 10 words written on them.
Question: Did God write that small?
